Candy Cane Christmas Table Scape

This year has been unlike any other and let’s be honest, most of us are ready for it to be over. This holiday season certainly looks different than others, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be special.

For my table this year, I was inspired by one of the most classic elements of Christmas – the candy cane. Using shades of red woven through white elements, including my wedding china (yes, you read that right! I decided to bust it out this year!),  I created a look that’s both modern and classic and perfect for the holiday season. The best part? I found these pieces at Home Goods, Marshall’s and Bed Bath & Beyond. Putting a special touch on your holiday table doesn’t have to be expensive!

I transformed my dining room earlier this year for the One Room Challenge. This space has seen a lot of meals over the years and it was well over due for some love! I kept both my antique hutch and table which I revamped with a spot of black paint and some new cabinet hardware and they feel like new again! I have loved being able to dress them up for each holiday, but now that they’ve been given the attention they deserve, they look like royalty with this modern classic candy cane styling.

Place Settings

I couldn’t go passed these bright red place mats that felt so festive but simple. The napkins added a modern touch, with a geometric pattern reminiscent of the holiday candy, and a touch of holly ties everything together.

Center Piece

I purchased the three birch trees from HomeGoods and then bought the greenery from Bed Bath & Beyond.  Then, I simply wrapped the greenery around each of the stems so that it looked like it was one larger piece. The table runner was another piece that really helped to tie in the the theme of the room with the candy striping. It’s modern, but festive and not too over the top!

The Hutch

As mentioned, this beauty got a little makeover earlier in the year so dressing her up was so much fun! I had already placed white farm house style plates and serve ware that are displayed all year round. So, I added a few red pieces here and there to keep the theme going – like the cake bowl with red ribbon. The garland is just the perfect cherry on top – the beautiful red bows make everything feel so charming.

I also added a few bits and pieces to my side table (which also got a little makeover earlier in the year with the One Room Challenge) – and some holly added to some milk jars keeps in theme with the farmhouse chic style of the room.

And just a little bonus – a snap of my stairwell at the entryway of my home. Couldn’t help but share! Happy Holidays xx
