Over here at tri Space interiors & Textiles, we like to find any opportunity to have a little fun around the office. This month is, of course, Halloween and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of breaking out the decorations to “haunt” our entryway. Our team had a blast putting this all together and we wanted to not only share our wicked creation, but also give some tips on how to create your own!
Pumpkins are a constant when it comes to Halloween and the fall season. They’re easy to find, relatively cheap, and so much fun to decorate. It’s a pretty simple concept, but placing a few pumpkins on your doorstep or throughout your yard is an easy way to get into the Halloween spirit. You can even take the extra step to paint, carve, or whatever other medium you want to use. Painting usually works best for smaller pumpkins, while we like to leave the carving to the larger ones to really show the details. Afraid of your pumpkins rotting? Try using faux pumpkins like we did with our store bought black glitter pumpkins. This is a quick, reusable solution that you can enjoy for years to come. Let your imagination run wickedly wild! We wanted to show off our creativity by carving our logo into this over-sized pumpkin.

Our overall color scheme started off as a classic black and white then blossomed from there. The main inspiration for this color scheme came from our undead musician Elwood Bones, who is front and center ready to play his harmonica for you, and our spooky ghost family. This is a great way to give yourself an idea of how to create an interesting, but cohesive design. A color scheme will give you an idea of what decorations to use and then you just need to figure out how to place them, which is where the fun truly starts.

Starting to place decorations can be intimidating to anyone, so here’s a list of a few tips and tricks to help you hit the ground running!
- Start with a quick sketch
This doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, just get your ideas down on paper. This will help you get your thoughts together and give yourself a little visual of what you want to do. - Keep scale in mind
By this, we mean keep close attention to the different sizes of the objects you’re placing. Doing so will create a balanced display. In our display, we used the tall trees to create a sense of height to draw your eyes up to the floating ghosts, but then we balanced it with stacked hay barrels, and the pumpkins placed sporadically on the ground. - Color Balance
This is very important when trying to create a cohesive look. Similar to scale, placing the different colored objects evenly throughout your display will keep it looking interesting and enticing. - Have fun!
At the end of the day, decorating should be fun – especially when it comes to the holidays. Grab some friends and family, blast some spooky tunes, and go crazy!
From all of us at tri Space, we hope you have a Spooky and Safe Halloween!
