Inspirational Fall Decor Ideas
Fall is a time of renewal – as the colors change and the weather gets cool, there’s no better time to get into the spirit of the season than with fresh decor in your home.
This year, I’m loving neutral palettes with bold flashes of seasonal colors like deep reds and burnt oranges. Minimalist and modern decor to really breathe new life into your space and make it feel like new.
Light & Bright
We’re surrounded by beautiful colors as the leaves change – so why not go for a different look and lighten things up in your home or on your porch with a neutral palette?
Opt for whites and neutrals – add white pumpkins to your front porch with Fall favorites like hay bales and corn husks. Mix in brightly colored mums to keep things seasonal.
Internally, scatter white pumpkins on coffee tables, dining tables and mantels and add a candle or lantern to make things rustic. Try putting white pumpkins in a clear vase for an unexpected finish.
Metals
Mix in chic metals like copper and gold to keep things modern. Tall, bronze candlesticks add a sense of chic to any space. They also give varying heights and help to create layers and depth when accessorizing. Add minimal candlesticks to make things even more chic.
Dried Flowers & Plants
I love dried flowers and grasses for Fall – wheat, pampas grass, cotton – you can’t go wrong! Display them individually, or mix things up and design a display with a combination of different dried pieces. Display them in a beautiful vase for a dramatic effect. Try hanging them on your wall, too! A big bunch of wheat displayed in your kitchen over your stove or sink is the perfect Autumnal touch.
Textures
Don’t forget about texture! Things like a burlap or a linen runner down your dining room table is an easy start – why not line it with pumpkins, gold candlesticks, dried plants and your other seasonal decor?
Birch wood candles are a beautiful rustic way to add in a touch of Fall magic, too. Line them with battery powered tea lights (a safe option!) to bring mood to your space everyday.
Seasonal Fruit
I love featuring fruit as an unexpected change from pumpkins. But don’t reach for those apples just yet – there are plenty of different options! Pears are especially abundant this time of year – add them to your table settings, or place in a large bowl on a coffee table for an elegant touch. You could do the same with artichokes. Pomegranate also makes for a beautiful touch to any centerpiece – cut them in half and scatter them through your tablescape to showcase their deep red color – perfect for the season! Don’t forget about figs and darkly colored grapes to keep the colors rich!
Forage Your Backyard for Seasonal Pieces
Bring the outside in by clipping seasonal pieces of greenery from your backyard.Go for plants and branches that are changing color for high contrast. The longer and bigger the better – this will look beautiful in your kitchen, or on your dining room table. Place a large vase on the floor in your entryway with seasonal clippings to welcome guests as they enter.
Layered Doormats
This works just as well in Spring + Summer – but adding a beautiful, plaid or checkered mat underneath your doormat adds a seasonal touch to your entryway.
Black + white keeps things modern and bold, or try going for red plaid for a more traditional look.
