I love Thanksgiving – it’s a wonderful time to gather with friends and family for good food and conversation. I’m also excited to really put my newly refreshed dining room to use that got a revamp for the One Room Challenge! I’ve already started to think about tablescapes for the holiday – this year I am really loving a stripped back, neutral style of decor. Here’s some ideas that have got me especially inspired.
Unexpected Color Schemes
Go for something out of the ordinary in terms of color palette. I love the idea of using a rustic blue – keep things traditional by adding Fall decor within the table scape like leaves, branches and acorns. Why not forage them from your own backyard?
Golden Hour
Nothing adds a sense of elegance like golden accents. Keep things minimalistic and fresh by adding just a touch of greenery as a runner. Scatter white pumpkins scattered across the table for some holiday magic.
Touches of Texture
Adding texture creates drama within a tablescape. Try a burlap runner, or for something really unexpected use some unique, hand-made pumpkins made from a variety of materials. Velvet makes for a rich and luscious effect. I love this table scape that also uses an unexpected color scheme of blues and golds! Another big trend this season.
Fancy + Fruity
Take advantage of seasonal fruit like figs, pears and apples as well as artichokes to create a fanciful tablescape. Scatter them as a runner down the middle of the table, or place them in bowls. Add bunches of dark colored grapes – it will help to create a sense of movement and keep the rich color palette moving. Modern and sleek candlesticks will add height and layers to your tablescape, too.
Farmhouse Chic
Be inspired by the French countryside with a modern, rustic farmhouse tablescape. Wooden accents like candle sticks add a sense of whimsy to your centrepiece. Use other accessories like wooden cake display stands to also add a sense of dimension and height, while displaying seasonal features like pumpkins and gourds. Don’t go all out on color- keep things simple with shades of white mixed with just a touch of green and some metallic accessories like candles to glam things up.
Keep It Simple
Magnolia leaves are a tried and true classic when it comes to creating beautiful, green tablescapes. The juxtaposition of the green + brown leaves make for an elegantly rustic look while making a bold statement. Weave your garland throughout candles for a magical touch.
Wonderful Wheat
Wheat is a seasonal staple when it comes to Fall and makes for a gorgeous centerpiece. I love mixing this with more traditional fall colors like burnt orange and deep red. But, for a modern take keep things fresh by adding it to a neutral color palette, or for an unconventional look try a rustic blue. You can add a bunch, or scatter a few here and there across the table with other elements to keep things simple. Continue the theme by placing a single stem on each plate setting.
Perfectly Plaid
Aside from being a perfect pattern to dress in during the Fall, plaid also makes for a great decor palette. You can’t go wrong with plaid – after all, it’s the pattern of the season! A plaid tablecloth makes for a fun twist on a traditional look. If you want to keep it simple, try adding in plaid placemats or napkins for a more subtle look. Bring out the colors of the pattern in your center piece – use greenery in your runner or highlight any oranges with small pumpkins and gourds. For a more modern look, opt for dark grays and blacks in your plaid and add gold accents to keep things fresh.
Go For Gingham
Another timeless pattern, gingham is another gorgeous way to incorporate color into your tablescape. Back and white leans more modern, where as oranges and reds are more on the traditional side.
